UNINHIBITED
JORDAN SEEFRIED
PHILADELPHIA, PA
JANUARY 31 — FEBRUARY 29, 2020
Jordan was initially introduced to the Arts via his grade school Art classes and started to explore his personal style when he was introduced to the work of Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and Anselm Kiefer; discovering a life in Art beyond drawing still lifes. He began to explore his own process and to tell his own narrative. He has since developed a collection of paintings with strong sculptural elements influenced by his surroundings. He has taken his style of using discarded and found objects to re-energize them for a second life in an original narrative. He combines his own experiences with the material’s history to create a new story;
Uninhibited is a deeply personal and vulnerable show for Jordan as he features pieces that memorialize his late father and express the devastation of losing a parent. It can only spill what it contains, influenced by Jordan’s experience of visiting his father in the ICU, underlines his sculptural style. He deftly integrates a bedsheet, a bucket, rope, contact cement and charcoal on canvas to share with the Audience the emotional weight he and his family had been carrying through the experience. The contrast between the objects engages the Audience as they navigate the textures. The gravity of Jordan’s work is palpable as soon as the Audience enters the space.
