TIANNA BRACEY
Tianna Bracey is an emerging visual artist based in Chicago, IL. Her artistic practice explores the female experience through portraiture. With a degree in Art History, she has a critical view of the canonical male gaze and values portraying women from the female perspective.
Her work explores the subtleties of the painterly and figurative form. Intended as recognizable snapshots of the femme experience, ranging from the pleasurable to the mundane. She employs body language, gesture, movement and expression as narrative tools. Through every piece she aims to celebrate the power and vulnerability of women through portraiture.
Her newest series of work continues to explore the female form but is centered on the black femme expxerience. Considering themes of performed identity, black teenage angst, and fragmented memory.
Beyond her artistic practice, Tianna is actively engaged in the Chicago art community. Post college, she interned for the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago as well as EXPO Chicago. She is now the Marketing Coordinator for contemporary commercial gallery, Corbett vs. Dempsey.
